Spiral Wound Gaskets
Precision-engineered spiral wound gaskets designed for high-temperature and high-pressure environments, featuring a metallic winding strip interspersed with a softer filler material.
Key Materials
- Stainless Steel 316L
- Graphite
- PTFE
Primary Industries
- Oil & Gas
- Power Generation
- Petrochemical
Spiral wound gaskets are the industry standard for demanding environments where temperature and pressure fluctuate heavily. They consist of a V-shaped metallic winding strip interspersed with a soft filler material (typically Graphite or PTFE). This unique construction provides a spring-like action that maintains a tight seal even under varying operating conditions.
Engineering & Construction
Our spiral wound gaskets are manufactured using precision winding technology, ensuring uniform filler density and optimal compression characteristics. The integration of an outer centering ring provides radial support, prevents over-compression, and accurately centers the gasket on the flange face. An optional inner ring is recommended for high-pressure applications or when the filler material is PTFE, to prevent radial buckling and minimize turbulence.
Performance Characteristics
Due to their robust design, spiral wound gaskets offer exceptional resistance to blowout and can accommodate significant flange rotation and thermal expansion. They are widely specified in critical applications across the oil & gas, petrochemical, and power generation sectors.
